Rednecks Gone Wild: Saints football bet results in shot up big screen TV (via @profblmkelley)

Filed under: NFL, New Orleans Saints, Washington Redskins — Tags: , — webadmin @ 7:34 am

The backstory is quite simply that a Redskins fan told his Facebook friends that they could shoot his TV if the Saints beat his team last Sunday. When the Saints prevailed in overtime, his friends quickly arrived, guns (and beer) in hand. The resulting five minutes of Youtube footage have already been viewed more than 350,000 times this week.

… and I’m proud to be an American
where at least I know I’m free
to make a crazy football bet
that destroys my TV

Brett and the Jets are low class punks

2 minutes to go, 13 point lead, 4th and 5 at the 20 and the jets line up in shotgun and go for the endzone, score a TD, then go for 2.

And the best part – fucking FOX doesn’t switch to the Cowboys Redskins game at 4:15 like they’re supposed to for teams playing out of market.

This whole league is in the tank for a low class punk and I can’t take it anymore.

Washington Redskins Trade For Jason Taylor

ASHBURN, Va (AP/CBS4) ? Jason Taylor wanted out of Miami, and Bill Parcells seemed only too happy to trade the “Dancing with the Stars” defensive end.

So when the Washington Redskins lost a starting lineman to a season-ending injury Sunday, a significant swap quickly got done.

The Redskins gave the Dolphins a second-round pick in 2009 and a sixth-round choice in 2010 for Taylor, who is leaving the only NFL team he’s known.

The six-time Pro Bowl defensive end — who was the 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year — fell out of favor in Miami after spending his offseason on a TV show rather than working out with teammates.

The deal came about nine hours after starting defensive end Phillip Daniels was carted away from the practice field at Redskins Park with a season-ending left knee injury on Day 1 of training camp.

It also came only about 11/2 hours after Washington executive vice president Vinny Cerrato told reporters: “We haven’t talked to anybody about anything.”

When he later announced the deal with the Dolphins, Cerrato said Taylor was expected to report to the Redskins on Monday — something the player’s agent confirmed.

R.I.P. Sean Taylor

Filed under: Murder, Sean Taylor, Washington Redskins — Tags: , , — webadmin @ 1:34 pm

Sean Taylor24 Years old. He was a hell of a ball player both at The U and with the Skins, but had a lot of off-field troubles and even though he seemed to mellow and mature after his daughter’s birth, it’s possible his past associations are what led to the attack that ultimately took his life.

After struggling all day yesterday, Redskins safety Sean Taylor died this morning from his wounds after a shooting in his home Monday.

Taylor “did not make it through the night;” his femoral artery had been severed, and the bleeding “could not be stopped, just curbed.”

Sean Taylor MiamiThis is the second Hurricane shot to death in two years. Just tragic. To me it doesn’t look like a random act of violence – the previous burglary 8 days prior found a knife left on his bed. Imagine what might have happened if his girlfriend and 18 month old daughter were there alone. Anyway, as KSK says “let’s remember Taylor for what he was between the lines: namely a fearsome, ball-hawking hit machine that left a swath of crumpled receivers in his wake.” To that end:

From The Starting Five.

Not That There’s Anything Wrong With That

If there were any welling hope about whether pro sports was ready for tolerance in the lockerroom, let that be dashed yet again. It seems there’s some sort of code among the players – a don’t ask don’t tell unless you call me out policy – that caused Brandon Lloyd to speculate about the sexual orientation of legendary Cowboy QB and FOX color commentator Troy Aikman – rumors that have existed before:

aikman-2.jpgRedskins much maligned receiver Brandon Lloyd was on The Junkies (which happens to be our least favorite sports radio program ever) here in D.C. this morning, and may have crossed the line. The first half of the interview is mostly about the game yesterday, and the team’s inability to catch the football. Then, seemingly bitter about Aikman calling him out on air, B-Lloyd suggests that Troy might be gay

I guess cowboys and indians will never get along.
