Reinforcing all the stereotypes of rural Mississippians.

The Green Bay Packers apparently had proof that Brett Favre made phone calls to Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress when they filed tampering charges against the Vikings for “inappropriate dialogue” with the quarterback.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a source said Favre continued to use a Packers-issued cellphone after his retirement. When the team checked the phone records, there were “repeated calls to coach Brad Childress and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.”

A Vikings spokesman said Tuesday that the club would have no comment about the Journal Sentinel report. The Vikings, if found guilty, could face penalties that include loss of draft picks and/or fines.

Packers had proof of calls

I mean, really!

You have got to be kidding me.

Report: Brett Favre Has Told Packers He Wants to Play This Year

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that Favre has told Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy that he has thought about playing this year. Although Favre’s comeback talk is apparently in its preliminary stages, Mortensen also reports that Favre’s family is encouraging him to play.

Packers cornerback Al Harris appeared with Mortensen on ESPN’s NFL Live this afternoon and said that Favre has told him that he “has the itch” to keep playing.

Favre tearfully announced his retirement this off-season, and almost immediately afterward there were rumors that he’d be back.

What a loser. This is why the Packers were in such a rush to send him his locker and retire his jersey in week 1. Because they know this selfish biatch will hijack the franchise again with no thought of anyone else and hardly anyone will badmouth him because he’s as teflon as John McCain. In fact, they’re already villifying the Packers for moving on too quickly - as if Favre’s retirement has to be properly mourned or something. Bullshit.

Favre Retires? Well Allow Me To Retort

Yo mama's so fat she can't even tie her own shoes.

So Brett Favre is retiring from the NFL after 17 seasons, eh? What timing:

The news was first reported this morning by Foxsports.com’s Jay Glazer, who said that Favre informed the Packers of his decision over the last couple of days. In recent years, Favre has taken time after the season before deciding whether to return. Coming off one of his most successful seasons in years, you had to think Favre might make one more run at a Super Bowl.

Call me the hater, but when I think of Brett Favre I won’t remember the happy-go-lucky gunslinger of the mid 90’s. I’ll remember the surly standoffish guy who wouldn’t relate to his teammates, who admonished Javon Walker for trying to capitalize on his success and get a new contract, who held the franchise hostage year after year by hinting at retirement hamstringing the team’s plans in free agency and the draft, who criticized the team for not getting Randy Moss, who kept his consecutive games started streak to the detriment of the play of the offense at times.

And as a Dan Marino fan and cynic, it strikes me as odd that Favre didn’t retire when his team sucked last year and they didn’t get Randy Moss, but after a season where he broke all of Marino’s career records he chooses to hang it up when the Packers were a FG away from the Super Bowl and clearly on the up. It’s just like when he gave Michael Strahan the sack that broke Mark Gastineau’s single season record. Plus there’s speculation that there was a connection that he announced this the same day when the Randy Moss re-signed with the Patriots and the Packers again didn’t go after him as a free agent. Bush league. Sportsman of the year, my ass.

I’ve never liked Favre as a person and this just compounds it. Even though he’s a Jeff Tedford product and destined to fail in the NFL, I will now root for Aaron Rogers to take them to the Super Bowl next season. GO PACK GO.

It’s Giants vs Patriots in Super Bowl 42

Yo mama's so dumb that under "Education" on her job apllication, she put "Hooked on Phonics."

Perfect PatriotsThe wind was making it hard to throw to the edges and Moss was being blanketed. But that didn’t stop the Patriots from finding other guys like Faulk and Moroney to put the gimpy Chargers out of their misery and come one step closer to making Mercury Morris eat his words.

The Chargers were too inept on offense - settling for too many FGs, and too vanilla on defense. That’s not the way to beat the Patriots. What they should have done, and what I’d like to see in the Super Bowl, is for them to be defended with a 1 or 2 man line. Line up in a typical 4-man front with 1-2 blitzers threatening, then at the snap, drop off into coverage to clog the passing lanes. And when you rush the 2 guys, rush them from the same spot overloaded on one side. Remember the Pats did that to the Colts’ pass-happy offense to great effect a few years ago? Now it’s the Patriots that have the pass happy offense.

Honestly, you will not beat the Pats playing straight up D. You have to gamble and guess, morph and disguise. Otherwise Brady will always know what he’s looking at and always find a Faulk open - who looked like he was just finding the open space in the zone. Norv (or rather Ted Cottrell) simply got outcoached. It’s ok - only 2 or 3 teams really were an equal match coaching and strategy wise all season.

Tynes game winning FGThe worse scenario for the Pats today was having to play the Giants. They are now the hottest team not named the Patriots. The Chargers were crippled and they didn’t get creative. The Packers played well, but just not well enough. Eli Manning (not Peyton) played well down the stretch and and will be rewarded with a spot in the Super Bowl. Scotsman Lawrence Tynes overcame 2 missed kicks to end the game in overtime with a game winning kick.

But here’s what I like about this most. Tiki Barber is left to stew over the fact that he left an average team and they became a great team all the while fending off his barbs (pun intended) about Eli not being a good QB. Thats called the Ewing Theory, buddy. A high profile player leaves an underachieving team and they suddenly rally and achieve something. And since there are no more games on NBC Tiki won’t have to answer to it.

Well, I guess you could say the same thing about the Giants going on a run after Jeremy Shockey’s injury, but since he’s from The U I’ll leave him alone.
