Only In Alabama

Hilarious story – heard on Fox Sports Radio:

Teacher accused of having sex with eight pupils on school baseball team faces 20 years in jail | Mail Online

sex teacher

Julie Pritchett

A teacher has been accused of having sex with eight members of a school baseball team.

Julie Pritchett began a relationship with a 15-year-old boy in February. The 34-year-old married teacher later approached other members of the team for sex.

The incidents allegedly took place both on school premises and at the boys’ homes while their parents were out.

She was discovered when one of the 15-year-old boys at the school, in the town of Trussville, Alabama, told his parents. They alerted the police.

Pritchett, who taught at Clay-Chalkville Middle School, has been charged with two counts of sodomy and one count of sexual abuse.

Some of the boys involved are over the age of consent and are not co-operating with police.

Police spokesman Sgt Christian said: ‘It sounds like she has some serious issues to work through, but that will never excuse what she has done.’

He described her as a ’sexual predator’.

‘When you have eight victims, all young people, all students, that she had great influence on, I don’t think it’s wrong to characterise her that way,’ he said.

Christian said Pritchett, who was a special education teacher and a sponsor of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes club at the middle school, resigned from her tenured teaching position last month after she learned an investigation was under way.

The investigation began May 2 when a parent filed a complaint with the sheriff’s office claiming his son was sexually abused by one of the school’s teachers.

Jefferson County school board lawyer Burgin Kent said Pritchett was placed on leave as soon as school officials heard the allegations. They launched their own investigation and then notified the sheriff’s office and the Department of Human Resources.

Kent said school officials also assured parents of those involved that they were doing everything they could to get to the bottom of the allegations.

Scandal-hit: Clay-Chalkville Middle School in Trussville, Alabama

“It was an unfortunate situation,” Kent said.

Sheriff’s investigators identified eight male students who attend Clay-Chalkville High School with whom Pritchett is alleged to have had sexual relations, Christian said.

Pritchett was the sponsor for the high school’s Diamond Dolls, the hostesses for the baseball team. It was through that position, Christian said, that she came into contact with some of her former students who were involved in the high school sports program.

Christian said Pritchett started a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old former student. That relationship led to sex acts with his friends, Christian said.

The sex acts were initiated by Pritchett, who used several methods of approaching the boys, Christian said. Some of the acts took place on the school’s campus and others at the homes of the victims.

Phone records were subpoenaed and support the statements of the victims and witnesses, authorities said.

She faces 20 years in jail if convicted of the sex abuse offences.

Saban Still The King, Ray Lewis Jewish?

Just when you thought Bobby Petrino had outslimed Saban, Saban reclaims the throne!

Sources close to University President Mike Garrison have informed WBGV that Nick Saban’s agent has contacted WVU regarding our vacant head-coaching position.

These sources tell us that Saban is extremely unhappy in Tuscaloosa and has failed to recapture the situation he had in Baton Rouge with LSU. The purpose of the agent’s call was to express initial interest in the position and to have WVU athletics put together a compensation package enough to lure Saban from Alabama.

Now that is the mark of a true champion. Just like Dave Kingman – never let them take your glory!

KSK Ray Lewis JewishIn an unrelated story -
apparently Ray Lewis is Jewish?

You probably know some of the great Jewish American sports heroes. Like Hank Greenberg. Sandy Koufax. Bob Cousy.

And Ray Lewis. Yes, THAT Ray Lewis.

Apparently his Wikipedia entry says that he is … and you know how much we can believe Wikipedia! So I’m sure it’s true. I sure hope all the NFL Players in his line of destruction are Kosher. Picture from Kissing Suzy Kolber.

  • Buffalo Cincy is over, mercifully. Jets Skins in OT. Tennessee eeks out another win. Vince Young’s QB rating may be 5 but they still win! #
  • Phil Simms’ hair is looking finely coiffed even if slightly displaced by his headset. Harrison, Ugoh and 2 LBs are out for Indy! Not good. #
  • Skins kick FG in OT. Poor 1-8 Jets. Peyton’s first pass to Anthony Gonzales. Like I said – watch Utecht. NE’s defense can be had. #
  • Would suck to live in Houston or the Bay Area now. They can’t see this game on CBS! Vinnatieri missed a 50 yard FG. Omen? #
  • Brady. SACKED. First play! #
  • Payton’s calling an excellent game – why he’s better than Brady IMO. He’s running while they have 37 playing a Buck LB. Addai is RED HOT. #
  • CBS is pissing me off with their slow replays. #
  • Indy 3-0 after 1Q. #
  • Colts red zone offense continues to suck. They got 2 gift PI calls and managed only 2 FGs. 7-6 Pats. #
  • Colts get first big play. 70 yd TD catch and run on a simple checkdown. Addai has serious wiggle. Announcer compares him to Barry Sanders. #
  • 13-7 Indy at the half. Indy’s playing very conservative on offense and keeping the Pats O off the field. #
  • Another 3-and-out for the Pats. Gameplan working to perfection. #
  • Defensive ballgame. Manning picked off then Brady sacked. Colts getting all the calls. Perhaps a little Cameragate Karma? #
  • I have a sinking feeling NE is setting Indy up for something big. #
  • My player to watch, Ben Utecht, records his first catch a minute before the end of the third quarter. Then Wayne drops a long pass from 18 #
  • Manning is the best QB, bar none, of his era. 3 years ago he’d be slinging the rock all over the field. Now he’s much more measured. #
  • His knowledge of the game and the strengths of the opponent, and his willingness to park his arm and ride Addai is what got him his ring! #
  • Pats drive down the field helped by a monster 50 yard catch by Moss. 20-17 Colts. Can they finish? Can they close the deal? Great teams do. #

ESPN – Jack Of All Sports Trades, Master Of None

Filed under: Alabama, Arkansas, Cat Whitehill, ESPN, NCAA Football, TV — Tags: , , , , , — webadmin @ 6:03 pm

ESPN has made a nasty habit out of acquiring various sports franchises and ruining the production value. They replaced the NBA on NBC and ratings slid into a crater. They turned Monday Night Football into a late night talk show where a football game is on in the background. They use Chris Berman and his tired act to upstage more experienced and knoledgable (and tolerable) anchors at big events like the Baseball Tonight and the US Open.

Saturday, NBC threw it to Costas just before the leaders teed off. Costas told us who they were, what was at stake and then it was back to golf. No speeches, poetry or floral designs. He knew that not a single soul had tuned in to the U.S. Open because he was there.

Compare Costas to ESPN’s signature guy, Chris Berman, who as tower host of the first two rounds of the Open, couldn’t help but show up as Vaudeville Chris, performing his TV clown act as if Open viewers would otherwise have been disappointed.

And don’t even ask the enthusiasts what they did to NASCAR or NHRA. So it shouldn’t be a surprise when they interupt a pretty good Alabama – Arkansas football game to try to promote the Women’s World Cup!

Most Pointless Interview – Mike Patrick exchanged a few words with US women’s soccer player Cat Whitehill, who didn’t even go to Alabama, as I had originally suspected. Turns out she’s from Birmingham, so apparently that was enough of a connection for ESPN to interview her during an Alabama game. They’ll stop at nothing to cross-promote, huh? (On a somewhat related note, while looking up Whitehill’s information, I noticed that there’s a player on the US team named Shannon Boxx. If that’s her real name, WOW.)

Nick Saban, Mercenary For Hire

Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer wrote in Truth is, college coaches should stay put

Gee, Nick Saban lied… imagine that! After all, why let the truth get in a way of a darn good scam?

The purpose of this column is not to simply bash the Napoleanic gnome — a man who can’t seem but to lie, only to angrily bully his inquisitors as if they should be physically afraid of him. Sure, we can go on and on about how the Nicktator took one of the game’s classiest owners and cleaned his clock. After all the times Saban acted like he was going to kick another man’s butt, after all the times he verbally undressed and humiliated others, he’d finally gotten the better of a man.But Wayne Huizenga? Never saw that coming. At the very least we thought he’d get a ball boy or even the little dude who worked for the Jets who Bill Polian jacked up in the tunnel. But Wayne Huizenga? The same Wayne Huizenga regarded as one of the best and most loyal owners in the NFL?

So let this column act as a memo to all owners out there looking to delve deep into the coaching search to pluck out the next great hope: DO NOT GO TO THE COLLEGE RANKS FOR YOUR NFL HEAD COACH!!!

All I can say is that Nick Saban will have the ultimate comeuppance when those same Bama fans that shook his hand and tried to tongue kiss him on the tarmac end up running his ass out of town because he went 7-5 and lost to Auburn. 5 coaches in 10 seasons? Can you fault Franchione from busting out – he saw the hatchet coming.

He will not be missed in Miami because he made no progress here despite what he says. Some might say he even regressed in certain areas from year one to year two. Hopefully Huizenga quits trying to hire the big name coach with sizzle and goes after an assistant who understands the NFL and the commitment required – and maybe instead of trying to assess that himself, let someone with some experience (successful experience) in hiring a head coach actually take on that role. I have no idea why he’s so allergic to having a strong GM.

And to Nick – well your wife is away from multicultural Miami now and back where she can lord her position as coach’s wife over all the townfolk in BFE. Enjoy it while you can. But in the mean time – War Eagle.
