I agree with my Governor
I don’t see how a Jesus license plate is in anyway breaching a church-state border. The vanity plates in Florida are out of control. It started with one for Military, one for Teachers, and one for the big 3 schools (UM, UF, FSU). Then it went to the minor schools. Then the Girl Scouts. Then the Policemen Benevolence Assoc. Then the this and the that. There must be about 100 different specialty plates you can get now. I don’t see how adding a Jesus plate in any way degrades the license plate product.
WTF is that? Clown College? Bachelors in Tricycle Riding and Masters in Human Cannon? Come on.

This afternoon Arlen Specter (R-Pennsylvania) announced he is joining the Wu-Tang Clan, a prominent, loosely organized group of hardcore rappers that first formed in the early ’90s.
At a press conference with all 9 original members, including the RZA, GZA (pronounced “Rizza” and “Jizza”) and Method Man, a visibly disoriented Specter read from a prepared statement:“My life had got no better, same damn ‘Lo sweater. Times is rough and tough like leather,” said the senior senator of his 29-year membership with the GOP. “I figured out I went the wrong route. So I got with a sick tight clique and went all out.”
After Spectar finished reading his statement, the members of the Wu took questions.
“We’re just happy to have Mr. Specter on board,” said Ghostface Killa, who because of the room’s low-lying cloud of smoke was barely visible. “When he contacted my office this morning, what else could I tell him but ‘Welcome Aboard!”
“It’s hard to argue with 29 years of Senate experience,” said the ghost of Ol’ Dirty Bastard. “In this economy, even a multi-platinum, grammy-nominated super group needs as much help as possible.”
The press conference ended ubruptly after Inspectah Deck lambasted the press corps for its overreporting of Somali pirates, Obama’s new dog, and the Swine Flu “pandemic” in the middle of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

Holy device-plsion, Batman. Rumors are out there that Apple are out to bring me back in the fold with a new Newton! OK they don’t call it that, but I will. Oh – and they’re also supposedly coming out with an iPhone Nano or something.
New Apple Gizmos Coming Exclusively to Verizon? – PC WorldThe other is a “media pad” that has the same functionality as an iPod Touch — music, games, photos — but with HD video and calling ability via a Wi-Fi connection. Sources tell Business Week that the device will be smaller than the Kindle 2, but with a larger touchscreen, paving the way for more speculation about Apple slinking into the eBook market. This might be the Apple Tablet everybody has been talking about.
“The media pad category might go to Verizon,” a witness told Business Week. “We are talking about a device where people will say, ‘Damn, why didn’t we do this?’ Apple is probably going to define the damn category.”
All signs point to a burgeoning deal between Verizon and Apple because, 1) Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam told Business Week that he has spoken to Steve Jobs within the past six months even though Jobs is on medical leave; 2) Business Week isn’t the type of publication to spread rumors; and 3) if Verizon wants Apple products, new products must be developed. Apple isn’t about to renege on its iPhone exclusive deal with AT&T, and the current iteration of the iPhone is on a GSM network and won’t function on Verizon’s CDMA network.
to be fair to the amazed witness, the “media pad” has been around in all shapes and forms before this: The Tablet PC, the UMPC, the Intel MID reference design, the PSP, EEE PC, the PMP and the iPod Touch. Even Microsoft’s Table PC! But because it’s Apple – it’s a whole nother genre. To the victor goes the history writing.

Specter leaves GOP for Democratic Party – On Politics – USATODAY.com

Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter has decided to switch parties and run for re-election next year as a Democrat.In a statement, Specter said he is leaving the Republican Party because it “has moved far to the right” and away from being a “big tent.” Specter, 79, was first elected to the Senate in 1980.
“I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans,” he said.
Specter also noted that more than 200,000 Republicans in Pennsylvania changed their registration last year to become Democrats.

When House Appropriations Committee chairman David Obey, the Wisconsin Democrat who has long championed investment in pandemic preparation, included roughly $900 million for that purpose in this year’s emergency stimulus bill, he was ridiculed by conservative operatives and congressional Republicans.Obey and other advocates for the spending argued, correctly, that a pandemic hitting in the midst of an economic downturn could turn a recession into something far worse — with workers ordered to remain in their homes, workplaces shuttered to avoid the spread of disease, transportation systems grinding to a halt and demand for emergency services and public health interventions skyrocketing. Indeed, they suggested, pandemic preparation was essential to any responsible plan for renewing the U.S. economy.

Famously, Maine Senator Collins, the supposedly moderate Republican who demanded cuts in health care spending in exchange for her support of a watered-down version of the stimulus, fumed about the pandemic funding: “Does it belong in this bill? Should we have $870 million in this bill No, we should not.”
Even now, Collins continues to use her official website to highlight the fact that she led the fight to strip the pandemic preparedness money out of the Senate’s version of the stimulus measure.
