Nothing like a good conspiracy theory to get the tabs going. And before 9/11 the go-to conspiracy theory for anyone wanting publicity was the Princess Diana fatal car crash. Well, seems like it’s back again with all it’s elitist, classist and racist undertones that involve a divorced royal being pregnant by and getting engaged to an Egyptian Muslim. The inquest is on and to Paris they go!
The jury likely will speak with jeweler Alberto Repossi, who this morning claimed a ring he sold to Diana’s companion Dodi al Fayed was an engagement ring. He added that Fayed planned to give the ring to Diana the night they died. Repossi now accuses British police of pressuring him to change his story.
The investigation has become so intense that while in Paris, the six men and five women on the jury will be protected by an armed anti-terrorist squad and 200 riot police.
Was it the Queen who didn’t want the royal family to suffer more embarassment? Was it a disgraced Prince Charles in a can? Was it James Bond and MI6 trying to protect a possible future Egyptian claim to the throne? Or maybe it was Al Queda protesting Al-Fayed as a traitor.
One thing I do know it is – it is not going away.
